Charitable Friends of Ashley Valley is excited to announce the commissioning of our talented local sculptor and artist, Arnie Gray. This project aims to pay tribute to our rich oilfield history and the remarkable individuals who played a vital role in its development. We look forward to celebrating their legacy through Arnie's artistic vision.
Our history in Bronze.
Arnie has chosen to capture the pivotal moment of the Equity One oil strike on September 18, 1948. By engaging in local research and connecting with our community, he aims to gather photos and stories that will shape the final maquette. This piece will be cast in bronze, standing at 1.25 times life size.
Honoring Uintah Basins Heroes, legends and founders.
Sculptor Arnie Gray is eager to connect with anyone who has stories, photographs, or memories related to the Ashley Valley #1 well. This important well, completed on September 18, 1948, by the Equity Oil Company based in Salt Lake City, was the first commercially producing well in Utah. If you have any information or experiences connected to this historical site, Arnie would be thrilled to hear from you.
